About Pam Hall (née Hourihan)

I am an experienced Professional Therapist offering support to people who wish to make changes in their lives, either by addressing issues from the past or who wish to work more in the ‘here and now’. I am Registered and Accredited with BACP.   Pam

I work with you according to the presenting topic and by using one or more of the areas I am trained in. For instance, we may decide to incorporate some relaxation techniques based on Mindfulness or some visualisation work or you may prefer to simply take the time to talk.

Talking really does Help Your Mind Explore and is part of the process of therapy which helps bring about positive changes in your life.
The important thing is that I will work at your pace and try to help you decide what changes you wish to bring about in your life.

My aim is to help you feel at ease so that you can experience growth, positive change and self understanding in a beneficial and fulfilling way. I also believe that adults who have suffered abusive or traumatic experiences can move forward in Therapy in a positive and gentle way from being 'survivors' to becoming 'thrivers'.

My experience comes from working for agencies specialising in areas such as womens issues, mental health, educational establishments, young people and disability issues, as well as from my Private Practice. I also see individuals who are referred to me via Occupational Health departments and I am an Affiliate Counsellor to several Employee Assistance Providers.

I hold a personal interest in intuition and spirituality and I also have a growing interest in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness. I have taken additional training in the Neuroscience of Psychological Therapies and the treatment of Trauma and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), which I am particularly interested in.

In addition, I am also a Qualified Supervisor providing support, assistance and encouragement to other Therapists who are either also Qualified or undertaking their training.

I work collaboratively and strive to offer you support and encouragement to be the best you can be with your clients. I'm as curious about the things that go well in your work as I am about the dilemmas and difficulties which can occur. This is because I believe that Supervision needs to be a positive part of our work and not just a focus on how we can do better.

I have worked as a Group Supervisor at the Harrow Women's Centre and at Harrow Carers Support; and at a young people’s Agency in Watford. I supervise Counsellors in Private Practice and those who work in schools and/or the voluntary sector as well as those who are in training. I also currently work as Clinical Supervisor for a Family Charity based in Watford.

I aim to provide a safe and confidential service which is ethical, professional and effective. I remain committed to working in a way which trusts each individual; client or supervisee, to know what works best for them.

As a member of BACP, I am bound by their Ethical Frameworks for Good Practice and I am subject to each of their complaints procedure. I hold up to date Indemnity Insurance along with a current DBS certificate.
